The four Arabian nations boycotting Qatar over alleged support for terrorism have sent a list of 13 demands to Doha, from closing Al Jazeera television and reducing ties to their regional adversary Iran, an official representing one of the four nations said.
The list, complied by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and Bahrain, as the price for ending the worst Gulf Arab crisis in years demands the closing of a Turkish military in Qatar, the official said.
The list also says that Qatar must announce its ties with terrorism, ideological and sectarian organizations, including the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State, al Waeda, hezbollah, and Jabhar Fateh al Sham, the former branch of al Qaeda in Syria and surrender all designated terrorists on its territory.
The 4 nations gave Qatar a time of 10 days to comply, failing which the list becomes ‘void’.
The demands were handed to Qatar by Kuwait, which is mediating in the dispute, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The four Arab nations accuse Qatar of funding terrorism, fomenting regional instability and cozying up to revolutionary theocracy Iran, to which Qatar has repeatedly denied all the accusations.
United States President Donald Trump has taken a rugged stance on the issue, by accusing Qatar of being a “high-level” sponsor of terrorism.
Although, the US President has also offered help to the parties in the dispute to resolve their differences.
Turkey has backed Qatar during the three-week-old crisis. It sent its first ship carrying food aid to Qatar and dispatched a small contingent of soldiers and armored vehicles there on Thursday, while President Tayyip Erdogan spoke with Saudi Arabia's leaders on calming tension in the region.
