A 28-year-old man was arrested for growing cannabis plants in his Abu Dhabi home.
The director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police Brig General Dr Rashid Bu Rasheed said that the Asian man had soiled, lighting and controlled the room temperature in-order to grow and sustain the marijuana plants.
Police have since seized all the illegal substances.
More than 600 grams of marijuana, including large quantity of seeds were seized from the suspect’s house.
During the police interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was harvesting cannabis plants and the case had been transferred to the public prosecution.
An Emirati man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for planting 38 cannabis plants in his Dubai villa and was fined Dh 50,000 in 2016.
According to Dubai Police, the majority of the Cannabis plants were found on the lower floor of the villa and some of the plants had reached up to five feet in height.
The suspect had partitioned a room on the lower floor of the villa into three parts to grow the Cannabis plants, and he also possessed marijuana-drying equipment.
