Dera Gurmeet Ram Rahim convicted in Ranjit Singh Murder Case

Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the Chief of Dera Sacha Sauda was nabbed after he was listed in the murder of Ranjit Singh who got killed in 2002. Ranjit Singh who was a supporter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim was killed on July 10th, 2002. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an FIR on December 3rd, 2003 in the case and the petition was filed by Ranjit Singh's son Jagseer Singh. A plea was filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to transfer the murder trial against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh from Panchkula's CBI Court but it was dismissed. The Special CBI Court in Panchkula announced that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is convicted along with five others in the case under Section IPC 302. The final sentence was announced on October 12th.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been serving a jail term of 20 years for raping two women disciples in his ashram. The verdict was announced in the year 2017 August by a special CBI Court. Gurmeet Ram Rahim was pronounced guilty for murdering journalist Ramachandra Chhatrapati. Gurmeet Ram Rahim was also named as accused in several other cases and he is facing allegations. After the allegations were made, Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his followers created a ruckus and injured several people in Haryana. Ranjit Singh worked as the manager for Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The other accused are Dera Sacha Sauda manager Krishan Lal along with shooters Jasbir Singh and Sabdil Singh along with Avtar Singh, Inder Sain.
