A Sharjah court has sentenced two years of jail for a convict Emirati man, who had murdered his mother by slitting her throat and cutting the tongue out.

The court also ordered the convict to pay 200,000Dh as blood money.

The verdict was pronounced on Monday by Hussain Al Assoufi who is the presiding judge of the Sharjah Court, founded the man guilty for killing his mother.

In the final trial, the victims family who now lives in Denmark had pardoned the Emirati convict who was being identified as N.M.E.L, he is suffering from a debilitating mental illness as the family members contended in a letter to the court.

Hani AL Jassimi is the lawyer of the convict told to the news that his client had received a pardon letter from the family of the victim and it has been submitted to the court.

In an earlier trial, the convict told to the judge that his fifty year old mother practiced witchcraft and he received a divine message that he must kill her.

On 7th June 2015 the convict killed his mother in an apartment at Sharjah’s Al Mamzar area. The victim was a Danish national of Lebanese origin, being identified as A.M.A.A

Earlier the public prosecutors received a medical report from Al Amal hospital, which confirmed that the convict was mentally ill and is not at all aware of his actions.

According to the report the suspect also had a medical file in Denmark and there he was treated for psychological disorders, but he was not able to complete his treatment.

The convict confessed that he murdered his mother when she was in sleep by covering her mouth. The convict told the prosecution that he was totally aware of what he had done and he has no regrets.

This incident came into light when the convict was brandishing a knife in a market and was refusing to pay for the products he had brought, when police came to the situation they took him to his apartment where the officers found the women’s body.

Judge Al Assofi ordered that the mental condition of the suspect at the time of the crime be assessed.
