On Tuesday, the Vivo Vision was presented in China during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025, marking the debut of a new mixed reality headset from the Chinese technology company. This new device shares a notable design similarity with the Apple Vision Pro, which was introduced in 2023 and became available for purchase last year. A prototype of the headset is anticipated to be revealed in mid-2025 and will be integrated into the company's Blue Technology Matrix, aiming to incorporate AI applications into everyday devices. Vivo's Executive VP and COO, Hu Baishan, showcased this mixed reality headset at the ongoing forum. The appearance of this wearable spatial computer seems to draw significant inspiration from the Apple Vision Pro, which can be acquired in select regions for a price of $3,499 (approximately Rs. 3 lakh).
An image of the Vivo Vision released by the company indicates that the headset may resemble ski goggles. Similar to Apple's spatial device, the visor of the Vivo Vision suggests it will feature multiple sensors designed to support a range of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) functionalities. Additionally, two sensors positioned at the lower part of the frame are likely intended for tracking hand and finger movements. The headset includes a sturdy headband that is designed to keep the Vivo Vision in place for the user, resembling closely the one found on the Apple Vision Pro. It remains uncertain whether Vivo's headset will function autonomously or if it will need to be connected to a computer.
Moreover, Vivo announced the creation of a new robotics laboratory and hinted at the forthcoming release of its Vivo X200 Ultra smartphone at the Boao Forum. The executive indicated that Vivo plans to design the "brain" and "eyes" of robots using the "real-time spatial computing capabilities gathered through [the] Vivo Vision." While the company has not disclosed the price for the Vivo Vision, a prototype is reportedly expected to be launched in mid-2025. Additional information regarding the device's specifications and the operating system it will utilize is anticipated in the upcoming weeks or months.
