Indian-origin ‘Chirag Suri’ becomes the first UAE cricket player to be recruited to any cricket’s big leagues.
Suri was already in the nets at the ICC Academy after being selected.
The coach of UAE International Cricket team ‘Dougie Brown’ congratulated Suri on his feat in front the national team.
The 22-year-old said “There is a bit of extra pressure on me now, even in training."Suri was born in Delhi and raised in Dubai “The lads have been joking around, telling me I can't do this or that in the IPL. And it feels really bad whenever I get out now, he said.
Suri said it will make him concentrate more and people will feel that he always had it in him. But it is all about being consistent, he said, and he wants to put more of a price on his wickets now.
The realization has not taken a long to dawn on Suri. Making all the way to IPL roster was quite some achievement, but hard works starts here, he said.
Suri said that he is really enjoying the moment. But he has been back at the training, trying to work harder with a goal like this in his mind.
He watched the IPL auction on television at home in Dubai. From the beginning his eyes were on his lot, No. 245. Suri’s father, Bobby had gone to his construction firm job in Dubai before returning in time to see his son's name go under the hammer. His mother Gauri was in tears when Guajrat Lions bought him for a base price of Rs 10 lakh (approximately US$15,000).
