The Police officers in the eastern region of Sharjah have arrested an Asian man for snooping on women in a shopping mall and recording them on his cell phone.

In a statement issued by the police department on Wednesday (8th Feb), said the incident occurred in the city of Khor Fakkan.

Khor Fakkan Police initially received a tip-off about an Asian man that was following women and acting suspiciously.

An Emirati man who was present at the shopping mall witnessed the whole incident, and saw the suspect man raising his cell phone and recording a woman walking around the shops.

The man then notified the concerned authorities at the mall, who then contacted the police.

Officers quickly arrested the suspect, who later confessed that he was filming the female shoppers, and his cell phone was then seized.

The case has been referred to the public prosecution.

This was not the first case, when a man was secretly filming a woman in a shopping mall.

On 8th February a local news reported  that a 31-year-old Indian man was accused of filming a woman in a Dubai shopping mall, he was sentenced to jail for three months. Several videos and images of women’s body parts were recovered in the photo gallery by the police, when they checked his phone.

At first instance the Dubai Court convicted the defendant of sexually abusing a number of women and breaching their modesty by filming their bodies.
