Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, was called for a united front among Middle Eastern nations to fight militancy on Sunday. Iran sets out to comfort cautious Gulf Arabs due to nuclear deal with world powers. This is Zarif’s first regional trip since he reached a nuclear deal with the world powers.

At a news conference hosted by the Iranian embassy in Kuwait, Zarif said, "Any threat to one country is a threat to all ... No country can solve regional problems without the help of others.”

Earlier to the news conference, Zarif met Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah and Kuwait's foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah al-Khaled al-Sabah.

Scheduled to go to Iraq next, Zarif traveled to Qatar after Kuwait to meet the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.

Nuclear deal - raised fears

The nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers raised fears among its Gulf Arab neighbors, reported Reuters. Most Gulf Arab states are worried that the deal would rush detente between Tehran and Washington. This could encourage Tehran to increase backing for Middle Eastern allies at chances with Gulf Arab countries.

"Iran stands behind the people in the region to fight against the threat of extremism, terrorism and sectarianism ... Our message to the regional countries is that we should fight together against this shared challenge," Zarif added.
