Khajuraho, located in the district of Chhatarpur in the state of Madhya Pradesh is an ancient city. The word Khajuraho is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘kharjur’ which means ‘date palms’. Today, Khajuraho is known all over the world for its temples, which belong to the medieval Hindu and Jain period.The temples were built by the Chandel monarchs who were originally called Bargujar Rajputs of Rajasthan.
