Toyota to test Hydrogen Fuel cars in UAE

Toyota Motor Corp said on Tuesday that it would begin to start testing its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle FCV in the UAE as the Japanese automobile manufacturer explores the potential for the zero-emissions fuel technology in both hot and dry conditions

Toyota will be teaming up with the Abu Dhabi green energy Masdar, Abu Dhabi National Oil Corporation and French industrial gases company Air Liquide SA, to examine the prospects of Hydrogen production, logistics and business feasibility.

As part of the project Toyota will conduct driving and refueling tests using its Mirai FCV, which it launched in late 2015 as part of its goal to foster what it calls a "hydrogen society", where the zero-emission fuel would power homes and vehicles.

Toyota Chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada said, “As the Arab government continues to promote new technology and also supports the creation of a hydrogen based society, so that the United Arab Emirates would be able to emerge as the world leader in next generation clean energies”.

Toyota Motors have already promoted the fuel cell vehicles as the most workable next generation option to the petrol electric hybrids, but the problem these cars faces is the lack of hydrogen fuelling stations which consumes mass.
